A New Energy Efficient Self-Build in Sevenoaks.

Svenskhomes first met the customers in 2019 just before COVID 19 came to our shores. They had lived across Europe in energy efficient homes for many years and had strong Swedish links. After recently renovating a property, they wanted to go one step further and build a new home with the desire to incorporate Swedish quality and energy efficiency to their project in the UK.

On the initial visit to the Svenskhomes showroom in Ipswich we discussed their existing plans and viewed the sample materials we use, it quickly became apparent the customer understood and appreciated the quality elements included in our house supply.

The customers were very pro-active and had all the contractors in place ready for the start of a complicated demolition and re-build on a sloping side with the plan to dig out a basement level for the house to sit on. This was a technical task that took some time, with the added complications of repeated COVID lock downs, but we were delighted to able to deliver the house to them in 2021.

Their timing could not be more impeccably timed as the prices of materials started to rise dramatically, but as Svenskhomes provide a fixed price quote for the supply and build of the house, we had already pre-purchased all the materials needed to build the physical house.  This proved to be a very cost saving exercise.

With a few delays on materials and shortages faced by the building industry it was a great achievement to have the property completed in in a timely fashion allowing the customers the chance to get really hands on and complete the majority of internal finishes themselves to a very high standard. It is a real testament of what you can do when you put your mind to it with the benefit of having the technical and structural elements of the house completed by Svenskhomes allowing the fixtures and fitting to be completed in your own timeline.
